Seven dogs are making headlines after escaping a kidnapping

These days, stories with happy endings are rare, which is why this story of a group of seven dogs who escaped death in China has gone viral!

Keep reading to learn more about these ingenious puppies who devised a brilliant plan to find their family.

A kidnapping that could have ended badly

Seven pet dogs were stolen from a village in northeastern China. According to local news reports , the dogs were taken by thieves working for a restaurant specializing in dog meat and were therefore doomed to certain death.

According to the account, the seven dogs, led by a corgi, escaped from a moving truck. The pack leader, an adorable corgi, was not joking, however. He made sure the group was alright, and witnesses saw him stop from time to time to check that everyone was safe and keeping up.

An impressive solidarity among the dogs

A German Shepherd from the group, which had been injured, was placed in the middle, with the other dogs surrounding it for protection. Other breeds present in the group included golden retrievers, Labradors, and a Pekingese.

Passersby spotted the group of dogs as they made their way home, 17 km away. They crossed busy roads and fields stretching as far as the eye could see before finally being reunited with their families a few days later.

A story that went viral on social media

Videos of these dogs went viral in China and elsewhere early last week. Those who spotted the group walking along a highway in a peculiar procession were intrigued. Netizens also noted that the group appeared remarkably well-coordinated.

Further images were subsequently released, showing the dogs crossing fields while remaining in a group. The dogs reportedly ignored attempts by people to help them.

Local rescuers later confirmed that the dogs had been friends for a long time, that they came from the same village where they were known to roam together, and that they were very close. Volunteers tracked their movements; the group followed the same path and was finally reunited with their families on March 19.
